Every year, RAD Cheer participates in the annual Wayne Tree Lighting ceremony in downtown Wayne. The girls love cheering on Santa as he makes his way through town! To the G, To the O, GO SANTA GO!
What better way to kick off the holiday season than with a parade? RAD Cheer along with the RHS band marched in the annual Wayne Santa Parade last December. The girls had a lot of fun marching down Lancaster Ave and interacting with the crowd! This year, we will once again march in the annual Wayne Santa Parade on December 7th. Cheer us on and enjoy some sweet treats with Santa at the Wayne Hotel after!
Each year, RAD Cheer and Radnor football participate in the CHOP Buddy Walk held at Villanova University in the fall. The CHOP Buddy Walk supports breakthroughs and brighter futures for those with down syndrome. Both the cheerleaders and football players love cheering on the participants as they enter the stadium, as well as interacting with the families throughout the event.
Every October, RAD Cheer shows its support for breast cancer awareness by sporting pink pom-poms and awareness ribbon stickers at each home game throughout the month. You can tell by all the smiles in the picture above that the girls love this tradition!
Last year, our RAD Cheer family was shaken to the core when we learned that one our our cheer dads was fighting a tough battle with ALS. In support of their teammate, the JV squad rallied together, and with the help of Coach Jillian, organized a two week fundraiser to benefit the ALS Foundation, making "spirit scarves" and selling them in the stands at home games. All in all, they raised over $1,700.00 alone, and received a 100% match from an anonymous donor, totaling over $3,400.00 in donations to the ALS Foundation.
